Task Force Sous Chef (Temporary Assignment)

Position Summary
Edison House is seeking a Temporary Task Force Sous Chef to provide short-term culinary leadership and operational support during a transition period. This position will work closely with the Executive Chef and culinary team to ensure the continued delivery of exceptional dining experiences for members and guests while maintaining the club's high standards of food quality, service, and hospitality.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on culinary professional who can quickly integrate into an established team, support daily kitchen operations, and help maintain consistency across all food outlets, private events, and member dining experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Executive Chef in all aspects of kitchen operations during the temporary assignment.
- Supervise and assist culinary team members during food preparation and service.
- Ensure all dishes are prepared and presented according to Edison House standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment.
- Assist with inventory management, ordering, receiving, and product rotation.
- Monitor food quality, portion control, and waste reduction initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with all health, sanitation, and food safety regulations.
- Support banquet, event, and a la carte dining operations as needed.
- Train, coach, and mentor kitchen staff on culinary techniques and operational procedures.
- Step into leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Executive Chef.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a Sous Chef or similar culinary leadership role.
- Experience in upscale dining, private clubs, hotels, or hospitality-driven environments preferred.
- Strong knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and kitchen management practices.
- Ability to lead by example in a fast-paced, service-focused environment.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and team leadership skills.
- ServSafe certification or equivalent preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and special events as required.
Assignment Details
This is a temporary Task Force position intended to provide operational support during a staffing transition and/or business need. The assignment is expected to last for a defined period as determined by Edison House leadership. Upon completion of the assignment, the position may conclude unless otherwise extended by mutual agreement.
