Job Summary
The Facilities Maintenance position is responsible for skilled maintenance, construction, and repair of any facility at the Edison and Ford Winter Estates. Experience with historic structures and museums preferred.
Schedule/Hours
The Estates is open 7 days a week year-round with evening hours during the holidays and other special events throughout the year. Regular public daytime hours are 9 AM - 5:30 PM. This is a full-time, hourly position with benefits. Five-day work week with occasional additional hours including nights, weekends and holidays.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Construction/repair
- Wood Carpentry
- Cabinetry
- Electrical Repair
- Painting
- Pool Maintenance
- General Maintenance (changing light bulbs, air-conditioning filters, etc.)
- Repair pumps and motors
- Operate equipment including power saws, chain saws, power tools, generators, pumps, small electrical tools, etc
- Maintain and file monthly safety reports on fire extinguisher, air conditioner, emergency light, etc.
- Set up, work and tear down special events.
- Weekend coverage required on a rotating basis.
- Other tasks as assigned
Minimum Requirements
- 5 years' carpentry/cabinetry experience
- High School diploma or GED
- Physically fit and able to work outside in adverse conditions
- Able to follow verbal or written instructions
- Demonstrated experience in a work environment that requires flexibility and teamwork
- Valid Driver's License
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
- Occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Contact with internal and external customers, vendors, outside agencies and the general public.
- The employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions, including wet and/or humid conditions and extreme heat. The employee may also be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, and airborne particles.
- Must be able to reach, bend, stoop, climb a ladder
- May be required to work hours other than the regular schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays and emergency conditions – storms, etc. Overtime, with prior approval from Facilities Director or Supervisor, may occasionally be required.
- Ability to drive and operate company vehicles, golf carts, tractors, etc.
