What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technical Designer position at Edikted?
The Technical Designer is responsible for supporting the development, fit, and execution of 30-45 garments per month across assigned categories. Working closely with the Technical Design Manager and cross-functional teams, this role ensures that garments meet Edikted’s quality, fit, and construction standards. The Technical Designer will assist designer in creating tech packs, managing fit samples, attending fittings, and communicating with our China team to help move styles from concept through final approval.
Key Responsibilities:
- Communicate clear and detailed fit comments to overseas vendors
- Prepare and update accurate tech packs
- Measure and prep all fit samples prior to fitting
- Track sample comments and revisions across development stages
- Work with multiple product categories across Knits and Wovens
- Flag discrepancies or delays to the Technical Design Manager
- Partner with Trend and PD to ensure design intent is executed accurately while maintaining commercial viability
- Help maintain the fit block library and update measurement templates as needed
- Assist in organizing fit calendars and track style progress to ensure deadlines are met
- Lead fittings and detect garment fit and balance
- Support special projects or category-specific initiatives as assigned
- Understand and determine appropriate grade rules for production
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Technical Design or Fashion Design
- 3-5 years of experience in technical design or product development
- Good understanding of garment construction, measurements, and pattern terminology
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Excel
- Familiarity with PLM or PDM systems is a plus
- Eagerness to learn and grow in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset
- Ability to take direction well and apply feedback constructively
