What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Development Associate position at Edifice Construction?
Overview:
In this role, you will be responsible for growing Edifice Construction’s footprint across North Carolina along with York County, Lancaster County, and Chester County, South Carolina. You will strengthen existing relationships, create new relationships, expand your professional network, and build a robust pipeline of public sector opportunities (Local Government and K-12).
Principal Responsibilities
- Support business development initiatives to generate new revenue within the public sector market.
- Identify and qualify target opportunities; schedule and conduct meetings with key decision-makers and manage follow-up activities.
- Preserve and strengthen relationships with existing clients while cultivating new ones through proactive outreach and research (e.g., public meeting minutes, capital budgets, procurement notices, and planning documents).
- Build and maintain relationships with end-users, architects, engineers, and other industry stakeholders.
- Provide regular updates on active leads and your opportunity pipeline to executive leadership.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including business developers, project executives, and marketing to develop and execute strategies that move opportunities through the sales process.
- Increase brand awareness through active participation in trade organizations, community events, and industry conferences (approximately eight annually).
- Conduct market research to identify growth areas and emerging trends.
- Manage and track opportunities using the company’s CRM system.
- Travel frequently (estimated 50% ) for conferences, client meetings, and territory development.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Self-motivated individual with a strong desire to win.
- Hospitality / event planning experience a plus.
- Track record of opening new doors and establishing new partnerships with tangible results.
- Formal sales training and experience with a CRM.
- Value a listening and consultative sales approach with a demonstrated ability to set and achieve goals
- Strong organization, presentation, and written/oral communication skills
- Enjoy researching and being part of an elite team that values results.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize, organize, and monitor business development activities.
- Outgoing, relationship-driven personality suited for public engagement and networking.
- Familiarity with Design-Build and Construction Management at Risk (CM@R) procurement processes is a plus.
- Experience working with local government and/or public education sectors preferred.
- Comfortable with frequent overnight travel (50% ) and attending night-time events.
- Entertaining and coordinating fun events for clients and prospective clients.
