SCOPE OF POSITION
To manage the Human Resources functions of the Plant and provide assistance, support, and advice to Management, office, and hourly employees within the scope of the Human Resources function. This includes, but is not limited to, employment, wage and hour administration, benefits, EEO, development and administration of company policies, employment law, and compliance with government and company mandates. This position is also responsible for the Safety function of the facility, providing advice and administering safety programs in accordance with federal, State, and Local laws, rules, and regulations. Assist in assuring HACCP, GMPs, Work Instructions, and Food Safety Quality system requirements (SQF) are in compliance.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Within the limits of applicable policies, procedures, and established plans, he/she has the authority to take action and make decisions. The assignment of work or delegation or responsibility does not relinquish responsibility for results. Performance will be measured by the extent to which the responsibilities have been fulfilled.
Functional Responsibilities:
- Responsible for recruiting and retention of both hourly and staff employees
- Responsible for the operational budgets for the Human Resources and Safety Departments and all expenditures and authorizations pertaining to those departments per Company guidelines, policies, and procedures
- HR issues, problems, conflict, disciplinary, wage issues, counseling
- Safety programs, meetings, reports, accident investigation, safety committee, safety inspections, projects
- Training preparation and administration of programs, reports, and follow-up
- Implementing, revising, reporting, administering, and filing Company policies and procedures, files update
- Compiling data, records, and information for various reports and oversee the HR Administrator
- Other duties as assigned
Managerial Responsibilities:
- Direct and supervise Human Resource Administrator in carrying out their responsibilities; motivate, coach, and counsel as required
- Review and approve employee timecards
- Evaluate and conduct performance appraisal
- Train or assign training to maintain sufficient skill levels in the department
Key Working Relationships:
- Various Government Agencies, as needed, OSHA, EEOC, EPA, ODJFS, Law Enforcement, Federal, State, Local officials for reporting, assistance
- Workman's Compensation Carrier, as needed, for injury cases
- Attorneys, as needed, for legal, contract issues
- Educational outlets, vendors, as needed, for training, hiring, and supplies
- Region General Manager, as needed, for direction, communication, and reports
- Managers, Supervisors, as needed, issues, problems, scheduling, discipline, training, safety, and communication
- Facility Manager, as needed, for communication and updates
- Quality Manager, as needed, for training and reports
- Corporate Human Resources, as needed, for direction, policy, benefits, issues
Functional Responsibilities:
- Regular use of computers, telephones, and miscellaneous office equipment
- Must organize complex tasks and meet deadlines
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
- Four (4) year degree with five (5) years in a Human Resources management position in a manufacturing environment
- High School Diploma or GED with ten (10) years' experience in a Human Resources management position
