Responsibilities:
- Greet and check-in clients and their pets with a friendly and professional demeanor
- Schedule appointments and manage the veterinary clinic's calendar
- Answer phone calls and address client inquiries or direct them to the appropriate staff member
- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with animal handling, restraint, and basic procedures
- Maintain accurate records of patient information, medical history, and treatments
- Process payments and handle financial transactions
- Keep the reception area clean and organized
Experience:
- Previous experience working in a veterinary clinic or animal care facility is preferred
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology and procedures
- Familiarity with animal handling techniques and restraint methods
- Proficiency in using computer software for scheduling appointments and managing client records
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Skills:
- Pet care: Ability to provide basic care for animals, including feeding, grooming, and administering medications as directed by veterinarians
- Animal catheterization: Knowledge of proper techniques for inserting catheters in animals for medical procedures or fluid administration
- Aseptic technique: Understanding of sterile practices to prevent infection during medical procedures or wound care
- Equine: Experience or knowledge of working with horses or equine species
- Animal restraint: Proficient in safely restraining animals during examinations or treatments to ensure the safety of both the animal and staff members
- Kennel: Familiarity with managing kennel operations, including cleaning, feeding, exercising, and monitoring the well-being of boarded animals
- Veterinary terminology: Understanding of common veterinary terms and abbreviations used in medical records and communication with clients and staff members
- Animal husbandry: Knowledge of basic animal care practices, including nutrition, hygiene, and environmental enrichment
- Dog training: Experience or knowledge of dog training techniques to assist clients with behavioral issues or obedience training
