Job Description
Position: Preschool-Transition to Kindergarten Program Assistant/Support
Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or related degree:
- Ability to relate positively to young children, parents, and staff
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships;
- Must provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers
- Must be organized, detail-oriented, and have the ability to multitask
- Proficient in Microsoft and Google applications
- Ability to operate a variety of office equipment and machines;
- Must hold a valid NC Driver’s License
- Must be able to physically perform the basic life operation functions of lifting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion;
- Must possess the visual acuity to do extensive reading, interpret written material, and transfer written to oral communication;
Reports To: Preschool/ Transition Coordinator
Job Goal: To provide quality administrative, office, and program support to ensure preschool program compliance and success
Responsibilities
- Responds to calls for the preschool department
- Responds to inquiries from staff, parents, and the community about preschool programming
- Manage the preschool application and enrollment process- collecting applications and all required supporting documentation
- Responsible for following up with parents by telephone calls and written correspondence to collect required data to process preschool applications
- Maintain a database of all preschool applications
- Administer, score, and process developmental screenings
- Coordinate the preschool application process, assist with the eligibility and placement process, and collect and maintain documentation in accordance with program requirements
- Responsible for copying and submitting preschool application packets to DEPC for eligibility determination
- Assist the preschool coordinator with placing preschool children in classrooms
- Responsible for submitting documentation to Data Managers for preschool enrollment
- Assist with compliance, monitoring, and audits for NCDCDEE, Title 1, and NCPreK programs
- Responsible for collecting timesheets for employees, submitting them to the preschool coordinator for processing, and to finance for payment
- Responsible for reconciling and processing invoices for snacks for payment
- Coordinate preschool for preschool professional development activities.
- Attend preschool professional development activities
- Schedule CBC with Fingerprinting appointments and manage the process with staff
- Schedule CPR and First Aid classes
- Maintain current database and files for monitoring: program, classroom, staff, and children
- Support teachers
- Responsible for collecting, reviewing, and submitting NCPreK attendance for payment
- Attend required NCPreK meetings
- Complete monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for NCPreK
- Conduct monthly compliance checks in preschool classrooms
- Maintain supply inventory for administrative and classroom needs
- Enter and monitor requisitions, purchase orders, and preschool budgets
- Travel to schools to deliver/collect information
- Support the Preschool Coordinator with special projects
- Maintain the confidentiality of the preschool program and demonstrate program loyalty
- Work with childcare centers to develop transition plans
- Support childcare centers through the transition process
- Assist in planning and implementing transition events
- Assist in sending out communications to childcare centers and families
- Attend Transition Alignment Committee Meeting
- Other duties as assigned
Salary: NC State Salary Schedule, with local supplement
Months of Employment: 12 months
Evaluation: Semi-Annual and Annual
