Maintenance (Grounds I)

JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION:                   Maintenance Mechanic I (Grounds)

QUALIFICATIONS:  

1. High School Diploma or GED

2. 2 years of work-related experience, preferred

3. Eligible to obtain CDL licence

4. Eligible to obtain Pesticide license

5. Computer literate

6. Able to perform heavy work, exerting 100 pounds of force occasionally and 30 pounds of  

    force frequently or constantly, to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects       

7. Able to work for extended period of time in uncontrolled environments and be exposed to

    very hot or cold temperatures, high levels of noise and vibration, smoke, dust and other

    hazards             

REPORTS TO:              Director of Maintenance

JOB GOAL:                 

Perform skilled duties in various trade area to effectively maintain school buildings, equipment, and grounds within the school system

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

1. Receive oral and written orders and review to determine type of project and general       

    personnel skills to be used.

2. Plan project work schedules and place orders for necessary material and equipment to

    perform project.

3. Understand and follow safe work practices at all times.

4. Recognize and use general-purpose hand tools.

5. Operate heavy equipment.

6. Operate lawn mowers, chain saws and other machinery to maintain and clean school

    grounds

7. Perform basic electrical work such as replacing lights, ballasts, etc.

8. Perform such other duties as required by supervisor.

MONTHS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 months

SALARY: Classified Salary Schedule

EVALUATION:  Semi-Annually on the district evaluation instrument
