Role Description The Assistant Property Manager – Multi-Family is a full-time, on-site role based in Portland, OR, supporting daily operations of a residential community. This role assists with leasing activities, including showing apartments, processing applications, and preparing lease documents, while ensuring a positive experience for current and prospective residents. The Assistant Property Manager responds to resident inquiries, coordinates service requests with maintenance staff, and helps manage move-ins, move-outs, and unit inspections. Responsibilities include handling rent collection, posting payments, preparing notices, and supporting accurate reporting and recordkeeping. The role also helps with marketing the property, maintaining curb appeal and office organization, and ensuring compliance with company policies, housing regulations, and fair housing laws.
Qualifications
- Experience in multi-family property management or residential leasing, with strong resident relations and customer service skills.
- Solid administrative abilities, including accurate data entry, document management, and basic reporting using property management software.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with residents, vendors, and team members.
- Comfort handling rent collections, payment processing, and basic financial tasks such as reconciliations and invoice review.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks in a busy on-site office environment.
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn fair housing regulations and standard multi-family housing policies and procedures.
- Ability to work on-site in Portland, OR, including occasional evenings or weekends as needed for leasing or resident events.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in business, real estate, or a related field is a plus.
- Proficiency with common office software (email, word processing, spreadsheets); experience with property management systems is preferred.
- Demonstrated reliability, integrity, and a collaborative approach to working within a property management team.
