What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electronics Rework Technician (Part-Time) — SMT / Fine-Pitch Soldering position at Edge AI Solutions, Inc?
Electronics Rework Technician (Part-Time) — SMT / Fine-Pitch Soldering
POSITION OVERVIEW
Edge AI Solutions builds robotic inspection systems, and we need a skilled hand at the bench. We're hiring a part-time Electronics Rework Technician to solder, desolder, and rework small surface-mount components on our circuit board assemblies — think 0201 passives and 0.5 mm-pitch TQFP/QFN packages — and to build wire harnesses, cleanly and reliably under a microscope.
This is precision, hands-on work for someone who already has the skills and takes pride in clean, reliable results.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
● Solder & desolder: Hand-solder and remove SMT and through-hole components on populated PCBAs.
● Fine-pitch rework: Rework 0201 passives and 44- to 100-pin, 0.5 mm-pitch TQFP/QFN packages under a microscope.
● Build harnesses: Assemble, crimp, and route cable and wire harnesses.
● Work clean: Remove and replace parts without damaging pads, traces, neighboring components — or the part itself.
● Inspect your own work: Check for solder quality, bridging, and alignment before it moves on.
● Follow the build: Read assembly drawings and BOMs to place the right part in the right spot.
● Keep a tidy, well-organized, ESD-safe work environment.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
● Proven fine-pitch rework experience: You've independently reworked 0201 passives and 44- to 100-pin, 0.5 mm-pitch TQFP/QFN packages under a scope, and can show it.
● Harness assembly skills: Comfortable crimping, routing, and dressing cables.
● A steady hand, a sharp eye, and patience for delicate, repetitive precision work.
● Comfort with the tools: Soldering irons, hot-air rework stations, and desoldering equipment.
● Able to read a BOM and assembly drawing and follow precise instructions.
● Reliable and detail-obsessed: You catch your own mistakes before they ship.
LOCATION & SCHEDULE
● On-site in the Pittsburgh area (Homestead, PA). You must live within commuting distance — this is bench work, not remote. Local applicants only.
● Part-time, flexible hours — ideal for someone who wants steady, skilled part-time bench work.
NICE TO HAVE (OPTIONAL)
● Experience with BGA rework, prototype / low-volume builds, or repair-shop work.
● Basic multimeter troubleshooting.
HOW WE HIRE
No trick questions. We'll sit you at a bench and have you solder and rework a few sample parts under a microscope, then talk through your technique and how you know the joints are good. Bring your hands — we'll bring the boards.
Pay: $30.00 - $50.00 per hour
