Cantata Biois an EdenRoc Sciences startup company based in Santa Cruz, CA developing cutting-edge genomics technologies for uncovering structural variation critical to understanding cancer, as well as many applications for studying epigenetics. We are looking for an outstandingSr. Bioinformatics Scientisttodrivedevelopment of newclinicalapplications ofCantata Biosproximity ligation technology. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of developing advanced NGS-based analytical methods,ideallywith a focus on cancer genomics, chromatin biology, or epigenetics. Prior experience with proximity ligation (Hi-C) is not required, but it is expected that it will bepicked upquickly.He/she should be driven bydeveloping impactfulproducts andenjoy working ina multi-disciplinary environment. This position will interact closely with colleagues in computational biology,molecular biology,commercial, and finance.

Key Responsibilities
- Investigate and drive the development of novel analytical methods that leverage large Hi-C datasets to enable new products and services.
- Collaborateclosely withmulti-disciplinaryR&Dteams on assay development & benchmarking.
- Support production & commercial development teams with data analysis and interpretation.
- Regularly present your work both internally and externally, effectively communicating your methods and results to audiences with diverse scientific and non-scientific backgrounds.
- Contribute and author bioinformatics-focused white papers, posters, and publications.
SkillsAndBackground
- PhD inbioinformatics, computational biology, molecular biologyor equivalent. Postdoctoral and/or industry experienceis a major plus.
- Exceptional technical depth in cancergenomics, cancerbiology, cancer chromatin biology, epigenetics in cancer,or similar.
- Experience developing and implementing novel bioinformatics algorithms and pipelines suited for productionized workflows.
- Extensive experience processing, integrating, and visualizing large, multi-omics datasets (WGS, RNA-Seq, etc.).
Expertise in Python programming and demonstrated ability to learn and adopt bioinformatics techniques and resources.
Experience developing within a Linux-based cloud-computing environment (AWS preferred).
Experience in the translational research settings is a plus.
Ability to quickly become an expert in new fields.
- Excellent written, presentation, and verbal communication skills.
