The Business Development Manager holds a crucial position in advancing our sales and brand presence in the Minnesota. As a primary representative of EDCO, you are responsible for driving sales growth and increasing revenue by strategically managing relationships with one-step distributors, builders/remodelers, contractors, and architects throughout the Metro East side of the Twin Cities. This is a full-time, exempt position that can be remote/hybrid within the region.

Customer Relationship Management & Development



  • Act as the primary business liaison between EDCO and the Big Box retail partner.

  • Support the Big Box retailer by driving product awareness, sell-through, merchandising alignment, and store-level execution in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Ensure that the Big Box partners maintain the proper product mix, marketing tools, and inventory levels to effectively service the market.

  • Meet regularly with existing customers to understand their current and evolving business needs.

  • Build long-term, productive, and mutually beneficial relationships with existing and new customers.

  • Collaborate with distributor(s) and retail partners to identify growth opportunities; may require traveling with distributor or retail field representatives.

  • Investigate and address inventory, merchandising, or product quality issues across all channels.


Market Development



  • Develop a target list of opportunities and prioritize in order of importance across distributor, contractor, and retail channels.

  • Create and execute a strategic plan to investigate and develop these opportunities in a systematic manner.

  • Work directly with the assigned Inside Sales and Customer Support Representative to capitalize on product conversion opportunities.

  • Source sales opportunities through retail-driven leads.


Brand Management



  • Build and promote EDCO’s brand awareness throughout the territory, including Big Box retail locations.

  • Seek out and attend trade events, dealer shows, architect meetings, and retail events; become active in professional organizations.

  • Ensure all EDCO presentations and retail executions are consistent with EDCO’s brand standards.

  • Prepare and deliver product knowledge presentations—including brand benefit messaging—to distributors, contractors, and retail associates to reinforce EDCO’s competitive advantages.


Business Management



  • Develop a Sales Goal Strategy with the National Sales Manager to ensure results are tracked and achieved.

  • Achieve sales goals while managing travel and entertainment expenses within territory guidelines.

  • Demonstrate strong leadership, planning, and organizational skills while balancing distributor and retail priorities.


Experience & Competencies



  • Experience in the exterior building materials industry; Big Box retail or retail-support experience preferred.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field.

  • 3 years of sales experience (ideally within a distributor-based and/or retail-supported business model).

  • Strong drive to win and persevere through building mutually beneficial customer relationships.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage a wide range of internal and external partners.

  • Self-motivated and highly organized with the ability to strategically grow a territory and manage budgets.

  • Intermediate or higher PC skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint); ERP and CRM experience preferred.

  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time within the Greater Metro Twin Cities market. 

  • Valid driver’s license and approved driving record.
