Technical Business Consulting Program Manager

This management position ensures that consulting services align with MEDA’s mission of advancing economic equity by supporting entrepreneurs and small businesses, particularly those from historically underserved communities.

Position Summary

The senior level Business Consulting Program Manager is responsible for Small Business Turn-around Consulting and directly leading and managing MEDA’s program leaders that provide strategic advisory services to entrepreneurs and small business owners. This position oversees the delivery of high-quality consulting services focused on business growth, financial readiness, operational excellence, and access to capital. This position collaborates closely with MEDA’s lending team, training, and strategic initiatives teams to ensure entrepreneurs receive comprehensive business support.

Key Position Responsibilities

Program & Consulting Leadership

·       Manage a team of program managers and business development consultants providing technical assistance to entrepreneurs

·       Oversee delivery of one-on-one consulting, coaching, and advisory services to small business owners

·       Ensure consulting services support business sustainability, growth, and job creation

·       Develop consulting frameworks, tools, and best practices to support entrepreneurs

Entrepreneur & Client Support

·       Provide strategic guidance to entrepreneurs in areas such as business planning, financial management, access to capital, market expansion, and operational strategy

·       Assist and coach entrepreneurs with preparing financial documents, cash flow projections and loan readiness materials

·       Support clients through the process of accessing MEDA lending products and external financing

·       Support small businesses with strategic planning

Program Management & Strategy

·       Provide managerial oversight to program managers

·       Manage consulting program deliverables, timelines, and outcomes

·       Ensure programs meet grant requirements, reporting expectations, and performance goals

·       Track program performance metrics including businesses served, capital access, revenue growth, and job creation

·       Identify opportunities to improve program impact and efficiency

Business Development: 

·       Support entrepreneurs with business plan development, marketing strategies, and financial projection

Cross Department Collaboration

·       Work closely with MEDA’s lending team, strategic initiatives, training programs, and community partnerships

Community & Partner Engagement

·       Represent MEDA at community events, entrepreneur workshops, and industry forums

·       Build relationships with community partners, lenders, and business development organizations

·       Support the development of new entrepreneur programs and initiatives

·       Support outreach efforts to support awareness of MEDA and connect entrepreneurs with MEDA services

Team Leadership & Development

·       Provide managerial oversight to program managers

·       Provide coaching, mentorship, and professional development for consulting staff

·       Conduct performance evaluations and establish team performance goals

·       Foster a collaborative and high-performing consulting team culture

·       Develop and deliver group training for small business entrepreneurs

Position Qualifications

Education: 

·       Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Entrepreneurship, Economic Development, Public Administration, or a related business field

·       Master’s degree preferred

Skills/Knowledge: 

·       10 years of previous management experience leading teams of Business Consultants & Program Managers

·       In-depth understanding of P&L Balance sheet analysis and P&L bottom line assessment, and local business regulations

·       Proven track record leading teams in small business Franchising initiatives and/or Turnaround management consulting

·       Experience working with diverse communities, entrepreneurs and small business owners required

·       Demonstrated experience assisting small business gain access to capital, entrepreneurship support or business financing

·        Strong understanding of small business operations and entrepreneurshis

·       Experience analyzing financial statements and business plans

·       Strong leadership and team management skills

·       Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder engagement skills

·       Strong project management and organizational skills

·       Strong Interpersonal relationship, written and verbal communication skills
