Ed Herrington, Inc. is seeking a full-time or part-time Counter Sales Associate for our Millerton, NY location. This position offers a daytime schedule of Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., with every other Saturday from 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Position Summary
The Counter Sales Associate plays a key role in providing outstanding customer service, assisting customers with product selection, processing sales transactions, and supporting daily store operations. This position requires a customer-focused individual who enjoys building relationships, solving problems, and working as part of a team.
The Counter Sales Associate plays a key role in providing outstanding customer service, assisting customers with product selection, processing sales transactions, and supporting daily store operations. Essential Job Responsibilities
- Assist customers at the building materials and paint counters.
- Greet customers, identify their needs, and recommend products that best fit their projects.
- Promote featured products and current sales initiatives.
- Respond to customer phone calls, answer questions, take orders, and provide product information.
- Prepare paint orders to customer color specifications.
- Create quotes, sales orders, delivery orders, and special orders.
- Process customer purchases and operate a cash register accurately.
- Research product availability and source special-order items when appropriate.
- Stock shelves, maintain inventory levels, and organize merchandise displays.
- Keep sales areas clean, attractive, and well merchandised.
- Assist with inventory counts and related inventory functions.
- Collaborate with management and warehouse personnel to maintain stock and overstock areas.
- Review customer orders to identify opportunities for additional products and services.
- Resolve customer concerns professionally and effectively.
- Participate in required training programs and industry events.
- Demonstrate teamwork and contribute to a positive work environment.
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous retail, sales, customer service, building materials, hardware, or paint experience is a plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic computer and point-of-sale system proficiency.
- Commitment to providing exceptional customer service.
- Reliable, organized, and team-oriented.
