The Laboratory Assistant processes outpatient test requests and performs venous and capillary collection of blood specimens for analysis.
As a Laboratory Assistant, you will:
- Process specimens for analysis and reference testing.
- With supervision, may perform waived and moderately complex testing and may perform chain-of-custody drug collections.
- Perform various other support services for the laboratory as assigned.
- Maintain required documentation to comply with accrediting agencies.
- Perform duties consistent with written procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Support the department in achieving department goals for service, quality, regulatory compliance, financial performance, patient satisfaction, healthy work environment, and integration of intra and inter-departmental activities.
- High School, Equivalent, or higher
- Completion of a structured phlebotomy training course and clinical rotation is recommended.
- 6 months experience in a hospital or reference laboratory setting, physician office, outpatient clinic, or other medical setting
Clinical Ladder
Pay Range
- Laboratory Assistant I: $18.00 - $23.31
- This is a PRN, as needed position
- Primarily working: 7 pm - 3:30 am or 11 am - 7:30 pm
- Monday - Friday with every 3rd weekend rotations
- Required to work rotational holidays and other shifts per operational demand needs
