As An MLS, You Will
- Prepare patient specimens as required for laboratory testing and perform laboratory tests specific to department.
- Monitor test results to assure test quality and validity.
- Communicate test results in a timely manner. Enter and retrieve data from laboratory computer systems.
- Assist in orientation or training of new or less experienced employees or students.
- Clean and maintain laboratory equipment and environment.
- Demonstrate appropriate, caring behavior in the workplace, treating patients, their families, visitors and staff with respect and dignity.
- Works alternate shifts as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including, but not limited to, phlebotomy.
- Bachelors degree or higher in Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology or a biological, chemical or physical science from an accredited institution.
- OR bachelors degree with a combination of 30 semester hours (45 quarter hours) in biology and chemistry, obtained within or in addition to the degree is also acceptable.
- 2 years of experience in a clinical laboratory as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or 1 year of experience in a clinical laboratory as a Medical Laboratory Scientist and certification as MLS, BB, C, H or MB by ASCP or other nationally recognized certifying agency.
- This is a PRN, as needed position
- Required to work: Days, Evenings, and Weekends, per operational demand needs
