The Role

We're looking for a Strategic Sourcing Leader to join a well-established industrial MRO distributor with more than 60 years of success. This is a newly created position, giving you the rare opportunity to build a strategic sourcing function from the ground up rather than inherit someone else's process.
Reporting directly to the executive leadership team, you'll lead a team of three buyers and a data analyst while helping the business move beyond day-to-day purchasing toward a true strategic sourcing model. You'll have the freedom to influence supplier strategy, improve inventory planning and create sourcing roadmaps that will support ambitious growth for years to come.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, coach and develop a team of three buyers and a data analyst.
- Build and implement a strategic sourcing model focused on total cost of ownership.
- Develop category strategies with one-, three-, and five-year sourcing roadmaps.
- Negotiate supplier agreements and secure favorable commercial terms.
- Build strong supplier relationships while maintaining multiple sourcing options.
- Partner with Product Management throughout the product lifecycle.
- Use data and analytics to improve forecasting, inventory planning, and product availability.
- Monitor market trends, commodity pricing, tariffs, and supply chain risks.
- Manage total landed costs across sourcing categories.
- Present sourcing opportunities, cost-saving initiatives, and performance reporting to senior leadership.

The Person
To succeed as a Strategic Sourcing Leader, you'll bring proven strategic sourcing experience within a high-volume distribution environment or a manufacturing business managing thousands of SKUs.
You'll also have:
- Five or more years of experience in strategic sourcing or procurement.
- Previous leadership experience with direct reports.
- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
- Experience developing category strategies and leading end-to-end sourcing initiatives.
- A data-driven approach to forecasting, inventory planning, and business decision-making.
- Excellent relationship-building and communication skills.
- Experience with ERP and inventory management systems.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- A bachelor's degree and procurement certifications are preferred but not required.
