Overview: We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Freight Manager to oversee our logistics operations with a primary focus on implementing and optimizing a Transportation Management System (TMS). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in freight management, supply chain logistics, and TMS implementation, ensuring seamless integration with existing business processes to enhance efficiency, cost control, and visibility.
Salary: $83,000 and up, depending on experience
What you'll do:
Lead the selection, implementation, and ongoing optimization of a TMS to streamline freight and logistics operations.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders, IT teams, and external vendors to ensure smooth system integration.
Develop and implement strategies to improve freight efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service levels.
Analyze and manage freight operations, including carrier selection, contract negotiations, pricing bids, and performance tracking.
Establish and monitor KPIs related to freight costs, transit times, carrier performance, and system efficiency.
Train and support team members on TMS functionality and best practices.
Ensure compliance with all transportation regulations and industry best practices.
Identify and resolve system-related issues, working closely with IT and third-party providers.
Develop reporting and data analysis tools to provide actionable insights for continuous improvement.
Stay current with industry trends and advancements in logistics technology to maintain a competitive edge.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or a related field.
5 years of experience in freight management, logistics, or transportation.
Proven experience in implementing or managing a TMS (e.g., Shipwell, MercuryGate, Oracle, SAP, Blue Yonder, etc.).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
Excellent communication and leadership skills to manage cross-functional teams and vendor relationships.
Knowledge of freight regulations, compliance, and industry best practices.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, data analytics tools, and logistics software.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and drive process improvements.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with ERP integration and automation in logistics operations.
Familiarity with freight auditing, optimization strategies, and predictive analytics.
Certification in supply chain management or logistics (e.g., CSCP, CLTD, CITT, or similar).
