The Department of Ecology is hiring an** IT Application Developer - Journey **within

the [Hazardous Waste and Toxics Reduction Program](https://ecology.wa.gov/about-us/who-we-are/our-programs/hazardous-waste-toxics-reduction){target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"}.

**Location Options:**

This position can be based at any of the following duty stations:

  • Headquarters Office in [Lacey, WA](http://www.ci.lacey.wa.us/){target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"}.
  • Central Region Office in [Union Gap, WA](https://uniongapwa.gov/){target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"}.
  • Eastern Region Office in [Spokane, WA](https://my.spokanecity.org/){target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"}.
  • Northwest Region Office in [Shoreline, WA](https://www.shorelinewa.gov/){target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"}.

Upon hire, you must live within a commutable distance from the selected duty station.

Note: If the selected duty station is the Northwest Region Office in Shoreline, the salary will include an additional 5% premium pay due to its location in King County. Salary range: $7,146.30 - $9,611.70 monthly.

  • This position is eligible for telework and flexible schedule options.
  • A minimum of one day per pay period is required in the office.
  • Schedules are dependent upon position needs and are subject to change.

## Duties

Are you looking for a role where your coding expertise drives real-world change? As an IT Application Developer for the Hazardous Waste & Toxic Reduction Program, you'll design and maintain modern digital tools that track toxic waste, streamline compliance, and support sustainability efforts. Your work will strengthen environmental monitoring, enhance data accuracy, and improve reporting systems---helping protect communities and create a cleaner future.

In This Role, You Will

  • Use advanced technical knowledge to develop statewide applications and maintain existing information systems (applications/databases) that agency staff, management, the regulated community, and the public rely on.
  • Work with the IT team to perform analysis, system design, installation, maintenance, programming, quality assurance, troubleshooting, problem resolution, and consulting tasks for HWTR technical applications and databases.
  • Use your excellent people skills to work directly with staff in an ongoing basis to determine requirements and make sure the data systems are working correctly.
