Our Chemist is responsible for performing physical and chemical testing in support of the site QA/QC program and assist with strategic plans. This includes: initiating continuous improvement projects, supporting Global Quality Standards and compliance with cGMP regulations, and developing collaborative partnerships with client colleagues. He or she must deliver the agreed to business results while maintaining positive employee relations.
Principal Responsibilities:
Perform chemical testing of raw material, in-process and finished product in accordance with standard procedures. Approve materials and product based on test results. Performs sensory evaluations on raw materials, intermediates and finished products. Executes vital adjustments to in-process batches when an out of specification result is identified by calculating accurate additions to the batch using the test results as a baseline
Communicates the required addition to the operations department who performs the adjustments and the resulting sample tested again to determine compliance to specification
Collects and analyzes test data to identify root cause, draw conclusions and recommend actions.
Provide support to facility to resolve nonconformance issues and identify corrective and preventative actions.
Technology Transfer-support analytical method transfers from R&D to lab and train other chemists on the new methodology and the technology.
Provide training to employees and operators on new and existing applicable procedures. Support and handle the ordering of lab and office supplies to ensure adequate inventory for business continuity.
Participates in failure investigations to identify and recommend corrective and preventive actions
Acquires basic knowledge of plant floor operations and equipment
Applies appropriate methodologies and data interpretation techniques to assist in overcoming technical difficulties and promote continuous improvement.
Position Profile
Maintains the laboratory quality assurance systems to assure validity of data
Performs or assists vendor in the installation qualification (IQ), operational qualification (OQ) and performance qualification (PQ) of laboratory instruments and equipment. Conducts lab verification of instruments
Maintains accurate, up to date and concise laboratory notebooks and records.
Uses laboratory safety equipment and understands precautions in handling reagents and disposal of chemical waste according with local environmental regulations. Troubleshoots basic instrument problems.
Has in depth knowledge of how to operate instruments and other standard laboratory equipment relevant to job responsibilities.
Understands and accurately follows written lab procedures, global methods, local methods and published standard or compendia sources.
Has knowledge and practice of how to calibrate and maintain analytical instruments and use of analytical reference standards
Maintain awareness of regulatory and GMP requirements
Requirements:
At least one year experience in an industrial laboratory environment.
Proven knowledge of validations, cGMP/GLP, maintenance & instrumentation calibration, and able to work in a fast pace environment.

Normal physical and visual proficiency commonly associated with office environment, normal visual and hearing acuity, walking, sitting, carrying, reaching, handling and normal dexterity or accommodation to normal.
