Since 1972, we've inspired thousands of students through hands-on programs in ecology, history, and adventure education on Maryland's Eastern Shore.
Position Overview
Echo Hill Outdoor School is seeking a passionate and strategic Fundraising Manager to join our Development team and increase our fundraising efforts. This is a key role in ensuring the sustainability and expansion of our educational mission. The ideal candidate will be a skilled communicator and relationship-builder with experience in nonprofit development, grant writing, and donor engagement.
Responsibilities
- Fundraising Strategy: Assist in development and implementation of a comprehensive fundraising plan aligned with EHOS's mission and goals.
- Maintain Current Donor Relationships: Stewardship of current foundations, corporations and individual donors, deepening relationships and strengthening support.
- Donor Cultivation and Grant Writing: Research, cultivate and connect with new individual, corporate, and foundation donors. Identify grant opportunities, write proposals, secure new support, and manage reporting requirements.
- Events & Campaigns: Assist in planning and executing fundraising events, annual campaigns, and donor appreciation initiatives.
- Communications: Collaborate with EHOS staff to produce compelling fundraising materials and impact reports.
- Database Management: Maintain accurate donor records and fundraising analytics (experience with donor management software is a plus).
Qualifications
- 2-3 years of experience in nonprofit development or a related field.
- Demonstrated success in writing proposals, securing grants and major gifts.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-starter with strong organizational and project management abilities.
- Passion for environmental education, outdoor experiences, and youth development.
- An outgoing, friendly, and upbeat personality.
- Familiarity with Eastern Shore communities and/or the Chesapeake Bay region is a plus.
Work Environment & Flexibility
- This is a part-time position (16–24 hours/week) with a flexible schedule.
- Hybrid work model: a combination of remote work and on-site presence in Worton, MD
- is required.
- Occasional evening or weekend work required for events or donor engagement.
- Salary: $20,000 - $30,000/year based on experience and # of hours worked per week
