Position Summary
The Head Teller is responsible for leading the daily operations of the teller line while providing exceptional client service and ensuring operational accuracy, security, and compliance. This individual serves as a working leader, balancing hands-on teller responsibilities with oversight of teller activities, cash management, operational controls, and service standards.
The ideal candidate is a customer-focused banking professional who enjoys mentoring others, solving problems, and creating outstanding client experiences. This role will help establish and maintain operational excellence while fostering a positive, collaborative culture within the Banking Office.
Key Responsibilities
β’ Lead and oversee daily teller operations to ensure efficient workflow and exceptional client service.
β’ Process client transactions accurately and efficiently, including deposits, withdrawals, transfers, payments, and cashier's checks.
β’ Serve as the primary resource for teller staff regarding operational questions, procedures, and client service issues.
β’ Monitor cash levels, vault balances, and teller cash drawers to ensure proper controls and balancing.
β’ Perform and oversee daily balancing, cash audits, and settlement procedures.
β’ Assist with opening, closing, and securing the Banking Office in accordance with Bank procedures.
β’ Ensure compliance with Bank policies, security procedures, and regulatory requirements, including BSA/AML, OFAC, and CIP requirements.
β’ Identify, investigate, and resolve transaction discrepancies and operational exceptions.
β’ Monitor for suspicious activity and escalate concerns in accordance with Bank policies.
β’ Support branch management in coaching, training, and developing teller staff.
β’ Assist with scheduling and workflow coordination to ensure adequate coverage.
β’ Maintain a high level of professionalism and create a welcoming environment for clients.
β’ Actively identify opportunities to deepen client relationships through referrals to appropriate banking partners.
β’ Support special projects, branch initiatives, and community outreach activities as needed.
β’ Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
β’ High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
β’ Minimum of 3β5 years of retail banking or teller experience required.
β’ Previous lead teller, head teller, supervisor, or branch operations experience preferred.
β’ Strong understanding of teller operations, cash handling procedures, and banking regulations.
β’ Demonstrated leadership, coaching, and team-building skills.
β’ Excellent client service and interpersonal communication abilities.
β’ Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
β’ Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
β’ Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and banking systems.
β’ High level of professionalism, integrity, and accountability.
