THE OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking a seasoned Project Manager with a strong architectural background to take full ownership of projects from conception through closeout for our Overland Park office. This is a leadership role—you will guide cross-functional teams, mentor emerging talent, and serve as the primary trusted advisor to our clients.
Candidates with proven experience in K-12 or higher education architecture are strongly preferred. If you have built and led project teams, managed complex public sector work, and thrive in a collaborative but fast-moving environment, we want to hear from you.
THE ROLE
Project Leadership
- Own all phases of the project lifecycle: initiation, planning, design, construction administration, and closeout
- Lead weekly project team meetings, communicate clear status updates, and resolve conflicts decisively
- Mentor and develop team members, delegating support tasks and investing in their professional growth
- Foster a collaborative, inclusive team culture built on accountability and creativity
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, managing expectations, addressing concerns, and building long-term relationships
- Coordinate with clients, architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to define project goals, scope, and requirements
- Conduct regular site visits and inspections to verify construction aligns with project plans and specifications
Project Controls & Documentation
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation plans to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery
- Review architectural drawings, specifications, and project documents for compliance with design standards, building codes, and regulatory requirements
- Implement and maintain resource allocation and project management software (updated weekly)
- Generate Project Specification Manuals and coordinate complete bid document packages
- Manage contracts, change orders, approvals, and all project documentation in compliance with firm policies
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Required
- 15 years of experience in architecture or related design field
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture
- Demonstrated success managing multiple architectural projects simultaneously, from
- schematic design through construction administration
- Proven leadership and team management experience: you've built teams, resolved conflict, and mentored others
- Proficiency in Revit, Enscape, and project management software
- Strong command of building codes, zoning regulations, and permitting processes
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with clients, contractors, and internal
teams
Strongly Preferred
- Experience in K-12, higher education, or civic architecture. This is our core market and your fluency here matters.
- Professional licensure
- Knowledge of BQE Core
- Familiarity with public-sector procurement, DSA, or similar regulatory frameworks
