Position Summary
The TIG Fabricator/Welder is responsible for welding and fabricating primarily aluminum components, with occasional steel fabrication as required. This position operates hand-welding equipment to join metal parts and assemblies while maintaining high quality and productivity standards.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, able to perform repetitive welding tasks, follow written and verbal instructions, and work independently with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare materials for welding by cutting, grinding, and cleaning metal surfaces, primarily aluminum with some steel components.
• Set up and adjust welding equipment based on material type, thickness, and welding position using fixtures and weld positioners.
• Perform TIG welding on fabricated assemblies according to engineering specifications and quality standards.
• Inspect welds and completed components using measuring tools and gauges to verify dimensional accuracy and overall quality.
• Identify cosmetic or assembly defects and properly tag non-conforming parts for rework.
• Troubleshoot welding and fabrication issues and perform necessary rework when required.
• Assist other departments as needed, including belt grinding and hand grinding operations.
• Complete assigned work in accordance with production schedules and established manufacturing standards.
• Follow all company safety procedures and properly use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times.
Qualifications & Requirements
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 4 years of welding experience, including knowledge of basic metallurgy.
• Ability to read and interpret work instructions, blueprints, and technical documentation.
• Experience using standard bench tools, measuring gauges, and inspection equipment.
• Ability to cut, polish, etch, and evaluate pre-weld samples when required.
• Complete daily work logs, inspection records, job orders, and other production documentation.
• Perform basic preventive maintenance on welding equipment, including pumping systems and filament changes.
• Maintain an organized workstation and follow company housekeeping standards.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
The company manufactures and supplies the Truck Fall Prevention System to many of the largest companies in the United States. The system is lightweight, portable, and designed for quick installation by a single person. It can be rapidly set up and removed from the ground or left in place for permanent use.
The system is used on walking surfaces and open deck trailers at construction sites, warehouses, distribution centers, and manufacturing facilities. The Truck Fall Prevention System meets all OSHA fall protection standards and is DOT compliant.
