What are the responsibilities and job description for the Full Time Med Surg Manager position at EATON RAPIDS MEDICAL CENTER?
. Achieves the mission and objectives of the hospital in accordance with approved policies and procedures by ensuring appropriate planning, organizing, directing, and controlling all activities of the department. Oversees and develops polices and procedures for the efficient functioning of hospital operations.
Prepares agendas (completes minutes and sends notices) and presents information at various meetings including Nursing Supervisor, Department managers, QI, quarterly medical staff, Infection Control, departmental staff meetings and other meetings as requested. Completes appropriate statistics and assists with peer review.
Assess and develops staff in-services according to identified needs. Attends meetings, workshops, reads journals, etc. to further develop professional and management skills. Implements orientation for new staff members.
Identifies problems and creates solutions for operational and clinical issues both interdepartmentally and hospital wide. Maintains collegial relationships with other department managers and physicians; accepts and responds to constructive criticism. Supports administration and medical staff.
Leads , guides, trains and directs the Nursing Supervisors. Holds monthly meetings and ensures effective communication among all of the Nursing Supervisors.
Develops annual goals and monitors progress towards completion. Is a role model for departmental staff in clinical and professional interactions. Sets department tone for staff by example
Uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patient’s age specific needs and provide age specific treatment and care. Works in departments as necessary to provide direct patient care.
