Responsibilities
- Greet guests warmly upon arrival, providing a friendly and professional first impression
- Manage restaurant reservations efficiently using reservation management systems such as Aloha POS or Micros POS
- Escort guests to their tables, ensuring smooth seating arrangements and timely service flow
- Maintain accurate waitlists and communicate wait times clearly to guests via phone or in person
- Handle incoming phone calls with excellent phone etiquette, answering inquiries and taking reservations with clarity and professionalism
- Support the restaurant team by managing table assignments and coordinating guest seating to optimize flow and minimize wait times
- Uphold food safety standards by maintaining cleanliness in the host station and adhering to health regulations
- Assist with guest relations by addressing questions or concerns promptly and courteously
- Utilize POS systems to assist with guest billing or special requests when needed
- Organize reservations, walk-in guests, and seating charts to ensure efficient restaurant operations
Skills
- Proven experience as a host/hostess or in food service, demonstrating excellent customer service skills
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage positively with diverse guests and team members
- Familiarity with restaurant reservation management tools and restaurant table management systems such as Aloha POS or Micros POS
- Basic math skills for handling guest checks, reservations, and billing procedures accurately
- Knowledge of phone communication best practices including clear speech, active listening, and professional etiquette
- Organizational skills to manage multiple tables, reservations, and guest requests simultaneously
- Understanding of food safety standards and proper hygiene practices in a restaurant setting
- Experience with POS systems like Aloha POS or Micros POS for processing transactions efficiently
- Hospitality background or hotel experience is a plus for delivering exceptional guest relations
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude
