Easy Does It, Inc. (EDI) is the premier recovery community organization in Berks County, PA. EDI operates a licensed recovery house for up to 62 residents, each of whom are partnered with a certified recovery support specialist (CRS, RSS). Recovery Support Specialists (RSS) are responsible for providing certified recovery support services to clients of Easy Does It, Inc. (EDI). Working primarily with a residential caseload of 8-12 clients, and reporting to the Director of Operations, work is performed within the established regulations, policies, and procedures of EDI. This is a salaried position with generous benefits.
Recovery Support Specialists (RSS) are responsible for providing certified recovery support services to clients of Easy Does It, Inc. (EDI). Working primarily with a residential caseload of 8-12 clients, and reporting to the Director of Operations, work is performed within the established regulations, policies, and procedures of EDI. This is a salaried position with generous benefits.
Pay Scale: $41,600 - $54,080 for full-time salary; or $20 - $26/hr for part time, hourly
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Maintain a caseload of 8-12 clients.
2. Assess client needs and formulate individualized recovery plans (IRP).
3. Monitor and support client progress during weekly individual sessions to ensure conformity with EDI’s service description, programming, and clients’ progress with the IRP.
4. Coordinate and support client access to in-house and external resources across a variety of domains (e.g. licensed drug and alcohol treatment, physical and mental health, employment, pathway of recovery, educational/vocational training, life skills, family reunification, etc.).
5. Accurately document client progress by utilizing DAP note taking format.
6. Develop and update clients’ electronic medical record (EMR): IRP, consents, releases, DAP notes, encounter forms, and intake and discharge documentation.
7. Facilitate psychoeducational groups for clients on topics related to recovery, wellness, and life skills.
8. During new client intake process, assist with collecting and sending out clients’ urine drug screens and entering medications into clients’ EMR.
9. Attend weekly team meetings and give weekly reports on client issues and concerns.
10. Attend all major programs and events and assist other staff and volunteers.
11. Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
1. Possess a working knowledge of substance use disorders, multiple pathways of recovery, homelessness, criminal justice, social services, educational/vocational services, and employment resources.
2. Ability to assess and conceptualize individual needs and recovery capital; develop and implement individualized recovery plans.
3. Ability to use evidence-based practices, such as motivational interviewing.
4. Establish and maintain effective working relationships and healthy boundaries with clients, staff, other professionals, organizations, and the general public.
5. Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic medical records systems.
6. Effective verbal and written communication skills.
7. Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Education and Training
1. High school diploma or GED required, plus specialized trainings in substance use disorder, recovery support services, intensive case management, or other related fields.
2. Certified Recovery Specialist (CRS) credential required.
