Job description:
Title: Project SEARCH Skills Instructor (Part-Time)
Qualifications: High School Diploma; experience with youth and adults with disabilities preferred.
Job Goal: To provide training and support for interns to ensure success during the worksite rotations and/or provide employment.
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
1. Provides individualized support for an intern during the internship rotation to acquire competitive and marketable skills.
2. Communicate effectively.
3. Perform specific task analysis, especially when the intern is challenged to learn and perform tasks at a productive and high-quality level.
4. Assist with completing the Vocational Assessment to determine the abilities of the intern and the demands of the internship tasks, and assist the team in making meaningful matches.
5. Carry out job coaching plan steps with interns and other parties as needed.
6. Practices positive reinforcement with interns,
7. Trains interns in areas of grooming, hygiene, communication, interviewing, and behavior as they relate to successful employment.
8. Communicate with Project SEARCH VR (Counselor) to make final decisions regarding issues that may affect interns’ success at an internship or competitive job site. These decisions may include continued skills training, fading, behavior, job tasks, etc.
9. Complete training provided by Project SEARCH.
10. Participates in the decision-making process of identifying and implementing training strategies and/or services with other Project SEARCH Program staff and host business staff.
PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
11. Adheres to and promotes standards of the VA and/or competitive work site to promote performance, productivity, quality, and efficiency.
12. Submit and complete all appropriate paperwork.
13. Recognizes and acts in a manner that promotes the safety and welfare of the interns.
14. Demonstrates daily work responsibilities, is accountable for all hours assigned, is punctual and regular in attendance, and attends appropriate training activities.
15. Utilizes sound judgement and decision-making skills.
16. Uses Standard English in oral and written communications.
17. Is adaptable when dealing with individual and cultural differences.
18. Protects the privacy of individuals as well as the confidentiality of information unless disclosure serves a professional purpose or is required by law.
NOTE: The Skills Instructor will be expected to perform other duties as deemed necessary and appropriate by the supervisor or the Executive Director.
Must pass a drug screen, background check, and MVR check.
