It is the responsibility of the flight instructor to provide safe, effective, standardized instruction according to company and part 141 or part 61 standards to all student pilots. It is imperative that instructors accurately and completely submit flight data and maintain student training records that are compliant with FAA and company standards.

  • Safety First: Prioritize safety in all aspects of flight training, including ground instruction, pre-flight briefings, and in-flight activities.
  • Compliance with Regulations: Instructors must follow all applicable regulations and guidelines set forth by the FAA and SkyWarrior. This includes being familiar with and complying with the limitations in the SkyWarrior Flight Operations Manual.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic and paper records of student progress, endorsements, and any other relevant information as required by regulations or the company.

Other Expectations:

  • Conduct ground and simulator training for student pilots receiving core, specialty, or enrichment training courses.
  • Develop and prepare training materials that support training delivery to meet the student needs in accordance with the applicable curriculum.
  • Evaluate and measure trainee progress and recommend for qualification, or additional training.
  • Identify student training obstacles and seek assistance prior to further training.

Qualifications:

  • MEI (required)
  • Current Class II or higher FAA Medical Certificate
  • 100 hours or more of dual instruction given (preferred)

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Knowledge of aviation safety standards and practices
  • Knowledge of common aviation regulations
  • Ability to manage classes and teach effectively
  • First-level facilitation skills
  • First-level customer service skills
  • Ability to be coachable and receive feedback to support development

Working conditions should take into consideration the working environment(s), any potential exposures, the physical requirements of the job, any schedule requirements, and any requirement for travel.

Environment:

  • Work Environment: may include ambient office environment, outdoors, an aircraft cockpit and maintenance hangars. Temperatures may vary significantly based on weather and season and may be as cool as 30 degrees and could exceed 105 degrees during summer months.
  • Exposures: Instructors may be exposed to loud noise and fumes from aviation fuel and exhaust. Should include potential exposure to chemicals, loud noises, extreme heat/cold, or other potential hazards
  • Physical requirements: must be able to sit for extended periods of time, use a computer, bend, kneel, and stoop, may be required to lift up to 40 pounds, and climb/descend several steps to enter/exit aircraft, have unrestricted use of both arms and legs when maneuvering the aircraft.
  • Schedule requirements: 5-6 days per week up to 10 hours per day, schedule may include early morning, standard daytime hours, and evening hours as required.
  • Travel: typically, 10% or less of the time; unexpected travel could occur.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $23.00 - $27.00 per hour
