Easterseals MORC is seeking Full Time OR Part Time Adult Psychiatrists to join our Team and provide comprehensive psychiatric services to adults with mental disorders, substance use disorders, and/or developmental disabilities assigned to the physician’s care. This position will conduct initial psychiatric evaluations, make diagnoses and develop recommendations regarding treatment, prescribe medications and conduct medication reviews, order and monitor lab tests and AIMS periodically as needed, implement crisis evaluation of individuals who may need hospitalization or additional precautions or who may need medication to avoid hospitalization, and provide education and training to individuals served, their families, students and residents, and care providers on psychiatric related matters. The psychiatrist will use a computer and will maintain timely records of all items above in accordance with applicable laws, rules, regulations, standards and protocols. In addition, the Psychiatrist will serve as a resource and liaison with community health resources and other medical professionals to insure optimum mental health.
- Provides psychiatric and medical services to adults served by programs of Easterseals MORC.
- Performs biological and psychosocial assessments including psychiatric evaluation, annual psychiatric assessment, physical assessment, and referral.
- Makes diagnoses and develops recommendations regarding treatment. Provides for the review and monitoring of medication plans.
- Provides crisis evaluation of adults who may be in need of hospitalization or who may need medication to avoid hospitalization. Provides certification for the involuntary commitment and hospitalization as appropriate.
- Provides clinical supervision and consultation to clinical staff for quality, efficient and cost-effective coordination of treatment, continuing care, and support services.
- Provides onsite training, practical assistance and clinical supervision of students/trainees to support professional development and ensure quality care for individuals served.
- May be required to provide multi-site psychiatric services, either in person or via telehealth, including a range of services from psychiatric evaluation, patient education and medication management.
- Participates in court proceedings to provide testimony regarding behavioral health as needed.
- Prepares reports and documentation relative to direct services rendered and team activities.
- Functions as the team leader in weekly team meetings with clinical staff to develop diagnoses and make recommendations regarding treatment.
- Reviews treatment charts prepared by clinical staff to determine if treatment goals are being met. Participates in utilization review for monitoring of services and quality assurance.
- Acts as a liaison with court and other community agencies for purposes of consultation and referral.
- May be required to provide on-call assistance on a rotational basis.
- Complies with program outcomes and agency philosophy as related to care.
- Responsible for authorizing medically necessary services for individuals served.
- Prescriber, who is experienced and competent to prescribe medications for individuals with a co-occurring psychiatric and substance related disorder.
- Demonstrate the ability to engage individuals with co-occurring disorders in an empathetic, hopeful and accepting manner.
- Familiarity with screening tools and possesses the ability to identify and diagnose COD including substance types. Demonstrate the ability to identify and document the presence of substance use dependency.
- Demonstrates knowledge of principles of trauma informed care.
- Willingness to support and assist individuals with trauma related issues.
- Seeks clinical consultation from psychiatrists, including Chief Medical Officer, as needed.
- It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that any moonlighting work does not interfere with residency training and that, taken together, does not violate any ACGME work hour requirements.
