Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work or Counseling
• Active Michigan licensure as one of the following:
  • Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW)
  • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
• Must meet qualifications as a Child Mental Health Professional (CMHP) per Michigan Medicaid standards
• Minimum of three (3) years of full-time casework experience, including at least one (1) year in a leadership role
• Valid driver’s license (motor vehicle operator or chauffeur’s license)
• Knowledge of:
  • Co-occurring disorders (mental health and substance use)
  • Stages of Change (Transtheoretical Model)
  • Phases of recovery
  • Motivational interviewing/enhancement therapy
• Familiarity with dual diagnosis capability criteria for substance use and mental health programs
• Ability to maintain required 24 hours of Child Diagnostic Treatment Services (CDTS) training

Essential Functions:

1. Engages individuals and families in a welcoming, hopeful, empathetic manner regardless of stage of readiness and phase of treatment.
2. Assigns and supervises the caseload of direct reports staff.  Assists staff as required to manage caseload efficiently.
3. Reviews cases to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of services rendered.  Conducts staff meetings to review strengths, outcomes, problem areas and plan solutions.
4. Assists staff in improving and updating professional skills by providing them with information such as pertinent conferences and seminars, new techniques in the field and current and pending legislation affecting mental health services.  Orients, trains, and develops new staff.
5. Monitors case records, including signatures, and follow up and referral of individuals to community agencies to aid in an accurate history.  Ensures that paperwork is maintained in accordance with Medicaid & DCH, & Easterseals guidelines, policies, and procedures.
6. Demonstrates the ability to identify stage of change and use interventions consistent with stage of treatment. Assist staff in developing strength-based, stage wise treatment matched person centered plans that are designed to address identified individual needs. Able to provide resources for integrated treatment including self-help and peer support.
7. Model and use the Spirit of Motivational Interviewing in all interactions with staff, individuals and stakeholders.
8. Provides outcome and strength based supervision to staff utilizing a range of supervision techniques to foster professional development and performance, develop skill sets and increase individual outcomes. Conduct clinical case reviews that are competency based, strength based, culturally relevant and focus on improving client outcomes. (i.e. utilize motivational interviewing with staff-direct, follow, and guide approach).
9. Familiar with a variety of outcome measures for psychiatric and co-occurring substance use, medical or other disorders. Able to utilize outcome measurements in supervision and with person centered planning.
10. Provide support, education, and reinforce the use of prescribed medications to treat substance use and mental health disorders.
11. May also be responsible for the coordination of specific programs and projects as assigned.
12. Acts as a liaison with community agencies and substance use and mental health service providers, maintaining an awareness of the full range of human services available in the community that may be appropriate for client needs.
13. Instructs, assigns, schedules, checks and appraises performance.  Hires, recommends disciplinary action and discharge, and recommends pay increases and/or promotions.
14. Responsible for authorizing medically necessary services for all consumers.
15. Monitors Staff’s caseload to ensure implementation of approved EBP.
16. Demonstrates knowledge of principles of trauma informed care. 
17. Willingness to support and assist consumers with trauma related issues.
18. Provides supervision in accordance with the Individual and Clinical Supervisory Guidelines for the position.
19. Completes monthly chart audits in accordance with KPI standards.
20. Full compliance with developing and monitoring PIP’s in accordance with the Supervision Policy.
21. Monthly supervision/coaching requirements met for all staff assigned as defined by Supervision Guidelines.
22. Full compliance in completing annual evaluations.
23. Performs all job duties and completes paperwork in accordance with Medicaid Verification requirements and guidelines.
24. Promotes staff retention through policy expectations related to staff supervision, professional development, formal recognition, and teambuilding.
