Major Job Functions
- Install, assemble and configure computers, monitors, network infrastructure and peripherals such as printers, scanners and related hardware; pull cables and rewire or direct the rewiring of cables as required for new installations and office reconfigurations.
- Troubleshoot problems with server and PC computer systems, including e-mail, network and peripheral equipment problems; make repairs and corrections where required.
- Act as technical resource in assisting users to resolve problems with equipment and data; assume responsibility for a centralized help desk.
- Make hardware and software acquisition recommendations including helping users assess needs and providing justification for equipment and services.
- Assist in instructing staff in the use of standard business and administrative software, including word processing, spreadsheets and database management; provide instruction and written documentation where required.
- Assist with planning, design, research and acquisition of new or upgraded hardware and software systems; maintain current knowledge of hardware, software and network technology and recommends modifications as necessary.
- Ensures all hardware and software problems/issues and facility problems are logged via help desk tickets and resolved in a timely manner.
- Monitor and initiate all scheduled backup jobs and insure successful execution.
- Perform file restores.
- Unracking and racking of equipment.
- Deploy and maintain end user workstations.
- Monitor and maintain corporate network.
- Monitor all facility related equipment and assist with PM’s (Preventive Maintenance).
- Recommend improvements based on working knowledge of the operational environment.
- Schedule and/or perform all special work requests/tasks and change control events (turnovers).
- Familiarity with the security and privacy requirements specific to healthcare, particularly HIPAA
- Expertise in virtualization platforms (i.e. VMware, vSphere, Hyper-V)
- Strong practical experience with enterprise-level backup and recover solutions (i.e. Veeam, Commvault)
- In-depth knowledge of VDI administration (i.e. Citrix, VMware Horizon)
- Solid understanding of server hardware (HPE, Dell, Cisco USC) and storage technologies (SAN/NAS)
- Proficiency in administering Windows Server OS (2019/2022) and Active Directory
- Proficiency in administering Linux Server OS Red Hat Enterprise Linux
- Maintain clear and accurate documentation for all system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
- Act as a final point of escalation for complex system issues, performing root cause analysis and implementing permanent solutions.
- Apply security best practices, implement system patches, and enforce configurations to ensure compliance with relevant healthcare regulations (HIPAA/HITECH) and organizational policies.
- Administer and maintain Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) solutions (e.g., Citrix, VMware Horizon) to provide secure, flexible, and reliable access to clinical and business applications for end-users
- Implement, manage, and regularly test comprehensive backup and disaster recovery (DR) solutions to ensure the integrity, confidentiality, and high availability of critical healthcare data (EHR, PACS, etc.).
- Manage and support core data center technologies, including blade server systems, Storage Area Networks (SANs), Network Attached Storage (NAS), and related hardware components.
- Design, deploy, and manage server and desktop virtualization technologies (i.e. VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V), optimizing resource utilization and scalability.
- Administer, monitor, and maintain the organization's entire IT infrastructure, including servers (physical and virtual), operating systems, storage, and network services, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- Adhere to all policies, standards and procedures.
- Perform other miscellaneous duties as requested.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Verifiable desired experience may be substituted for education.
- Experience: Good knowledge of computer, server, monitoring & network systems. 5 year’s relevant IT experience in IT system administration, preferably within a healthcare or other highly regulated industry.
- Certification/License/Registration: Relevant professional certifications (i.e. VCP, MCSE, Citrix Certified Administrator) preferred but not required.
