Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional patient service while managing the front desk operations. This role requires proficiency in various medical software systems and a strong understanding of medical terminology and coding. The Medical Receptionist will play a crucial role in ensuring smooth clinic operations and maintaining patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, ensuring a positive first impression.
- Manage patient scheduling, including appointments, follow-ups, and cancellations.
- Handle incoming calls on multi-line phone systems with professionalism and courtesy.
- Verify patient insurance information and assist with insurance claims processing.
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure documentation is complete and compliant with HIPAA standards.
- Process medical collections and manage billing inquiries effectively.
- Utilize Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, or similar platforms for documentation and scheduling.
- Assist in the review of care plans and ensure proper coding using CPT, ICD-9, and ICD-10 standards.
- Provide clerical support including filing, typing, and managing correspondence.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure seamless patient care delivery.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical administrative support role is preferred.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, coding (CPT, ICD), and billing processes is essential.
- Proficiency in EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks is highly desirable.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite; experience with multi-line phone systems is a plus.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients and staff.
