General Summary
The Honors College at Eastern Michigan University is looking to fill the role of Graduate
Assistant for Student Success and Engagement. The individual in this role will be an
active team member in the delivery of direct service to students in a range of student
services. The candidate selected for this role will have the opportunity to work closely
with the Honors team (administrators, faculty, staff, and students) on a variety of
assignments, including but not limited to advising, student supervision, event planning,
student programming, new student orientation, and academic support services. Other
functions and responsibilities may be assigned based on The Honors College's needs
and the selected candidate's interests. This position will help graduate students gain
experience comparable to an entry-level professional in academic advising, student
activities, and admissions offices.

- Aid in administering advising programs designed for specific students, which
school preparation.
- Assist in the planning and organization of comprehensive learning programs for
services, student appointments, and cross-departmental collaboration.
- Support the Honors College administration with Honors College recruitment
including providing Honors tours and interacting with prospective high school and
transfer students through EMU programs.
- Represent the Honors College at meetings, conferences, orientations, and other
Student Programming (50%, ~10 Hours Per Week)
- Planning, developing, and implementing a wide array of social, and community
- Collaborating with Honors College administrative secretary to ensure programs
- Functional supervision of a team of 3-4 Honors College student fellows.
- This position will require occasional evening and weekend work.
Applicants must be currently enrolled in a graduate program, preferably
in clinical mental health counseling, college counseling, education, higher education
administration, student affairs, or other human services-centered field.
- Maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher is required.
- Maintain a 67% course completion rate or higher is required.
- Enrollment in at least 6 credits for Fall and Winter semesters is required.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work within groups and independently.
- Experience and commitment to work within a diverse, multicultural environment.
- Ability to take initiative.
- Flexibility in schedule.
- Graduate Assistant is expected to work 20 hours each week.
