The Programming Specialist is responsible for managing production programming, material control, and purchasing workflows through Tekla, Raptor, and related software systems to support structural and miscellaneous steel fabrication operations. This position serves as a key link between detailing, purchasing, inventory control, and production, ensuring accurate and efficient processing of fabrication information from detailing through manufacturing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Import and manage .pfxt and .pfxs files within Production Control (PDC).
- Establish routes, shipping routes, and workflow processes within PDC.
- Link materials and perform uncombine/recombine functions as required.
- Generate and maintain CAT files, XML files, KISS files, Peddinest programs, cut lists, and 1-on-1 fabrication drawings.
- Release production information and notify Production of released work.
- Import ABM files into Combining (CMB) and manage combining operations.
- Move items through Requisition (REQ), including material requisitions, Mult/Nest functions, and pricing requests.
- Move approved items to Purchase Orders (PO).
- Maintain inventory pricing control and support material cost accuracy.
- Coordinate directly with detailers, CNC operators, purchasing personnel, and production staff to ensure maximum efficiency and accuracy.
- Review incoming detailing files, drawings, and models to ensure they are complete, accurate, and fabrication-ready.
- Identify and resolve production, detailing, programming, and material-related issues before they impact fabrication schedules.
- Work closely with the Production Manager and participate in nonconformance investigations by identifying root causes of mis-fabricated items and implementing corrective actions.
- Continuously expand knowledge of Tekla, Raptor, and related software to maximize system capabilities and operational efficiency.
- Research and participate in training programs, webinars, seminars, and other educational opportunities to improve programming processes and efficiency.
- Represent EMW Operations with the highest level of integrity, professionalism, accountability, and commitment to quality.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in structural steel fabrication, CNC programming, production control, or related operations.
- Advanced working knowledge of Tekla Structures, Raptor, Production Control (PDC), Combining (CMB), Requisition (REQ), and purchasing workflows.
- Experience generating CAT files, XML files, KISS files, Peddinest programs, cut lists, and fabrication drawings.
- Ability to read and interpret structural steel shop drawings, models, and fabrication documents.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Experience coordinating with detailing, purchasing, inventory control, and production teams.
- Spanish speaking is a plus.
