Job Summary:
Royals RISE, EMU’s grant program with priorities towards mental health and well being seeks motivated undergraduate or graduate students to assist with a project focused on addressing mental health and substance misuse, funded by Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). This position will involve assisting the Faculty Supervisor/Project Coordinator (PC) with data collection and report writing, as well as developing and implementing appropriate and relevant mental health and substance misuse prevention programming that is directly related to the goals and objectives outlined in the grant.
Duties/ Responsibilities:
- Provide excellent customer service to students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors.
- Answer incoming phone calls.
- Perform a variety of administrative and/or office duties.
- Provide assistance and support to faculty and/or staff in completing special projects as assigned.
- Perform general administrative responsibilities in support of the department/office/campus.
- Complete department-specific projects as assigned.
- Attend the workplace regularly as scheduled, report to work punctually, and follow a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite.
- Support the values of the University.
- Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Position Specific Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assist the PC with developing and implementing appropriate and relevant mental health and substance misuse prevention programming.
- Conduct surveys and interviews with EMU students, following established protocols, to gather relevant information about mental health and substance use.
- Contribute to the preparation of research reports and presentations, including data visualization.
- Strong interest in community mental health and prevention of substance misuse.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with and caring for diverse populations.
- Proficiency in Google software such as Google Slides, Google Sheets and Google Forms.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Must be willing to sign a confidentiality agreement prior to beginning employment.

- Be currently enrolled as a student at EMU.
- Preferred to be currently enrolled in Bachelor's or Master's degree program that is related to the Position Specific Duties/Responsibilities.
Education and Experience:
High School diploma.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and use hands and fingers, to handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb or balance. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
