Position Summary

The Controller is a key member of Eastern Industrial Supplies finance team supporting the VP of Finance's responsibility for shaping the accounting systems, financial strategy and guiding the company's next phase of growth. This accounting leader will serve a hands-on financial steward, ensuring operational excellence, fiscal health, and alignment with The Eastern Way - taking care of people, driving improvement, and operating with integrity.

The Controller will help lead Eastern into the future by building scalable accounting systems, developing a strong accounting team, and providing insight-driven guidance that supports both the business and the people who power it.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounting Leadership

• Reporting to the VP of Finance and directing the accounting department, the Controller will lead, mentor, and develop the team, promoting a positive culture and trust.
• Champion collaboration, communication, and consistency across all accounting functions.

Accounting Operations

• Oversee all accounting, financial reporting, accounts payable, sales & use tax, federal & state tax, and compliance functions.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and state/federal regulations while maintaining Eastern's reputation for integrity and trust.
• Coordinate with our CPA firm on the annual audit and tax reporting.
• Drive continuous improvement in accounting processes and technology to increase accuracy, efficiency, and speed.
• Pursuing continuous improvement to accurately report monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements on a timely basis.

Growth & Strategic Execution

• Drive accounting strategy and infrastructure to support scalable growth and geographic expansion while maintaining compliance and internal controls.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement and ownership for the accounting function - embracing The Eastern Way of servant leadership and accountability.
• Work closely with Sales Management, Branch Operations, People Operations, Information Technology, Legal & Compliance, E-Commerce, Procurement, and Business Analytics departments to support their functions in Eastern's growth initiative to reach $500 million in revenue.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting; CPA preferred.
• 10 years of progressive financial leadership experience with previous CPA firm experience is preferred.
• Experience in distribution, manufacturing, or closely held business a plus.
• Deep understanding of accounting and financial reporting systems.
• Proven ability to lead through growth and change with integrity, courage, and composure.
• Demonstrated experience leading a large accounting team in a growing organization.
• Ability to work onsite at Eastern's Corporate Office in Greenville, SC.
