What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistive Technology Regional Center (ATRC) Program Specialist position at Easter Seals of Massachusetts Inc?
The Assistive Technology Regional Center Program Specialist plays a crucial role in the Assistive Technology Regional Center (ATRC) program by overseeing our lending library's operations and ensuring access to a wide range of assistive technologies. Well-qualified applicants will understand assistive technologies and their role in accessibility, have excellent organizational and program administration skills, and a passion for enhancing accessibility. The ATRC Program Specialist works closely with the ATRC Manager to plan, schedule, and perform all operational activities of the Assistive Technology Regional Center (ATRC). Various daily functions of the role are performed in and out of the Center using a wide variety of assistive technologies.
Summary:
Works closely with ATRC Program Manager to coordinate all activities of the Worcester Assistive Technology Regional Center (ATRC). Plans, schedules and performs work under the direction of the Manager of the ATRC. Meet with consumers in and out of the center to demonstrate a wide variety of adaptive technologies. Prepare computers with appropriate hardware, software and adaptive devices in support of the Worcester ATRC.
Essential functions:
- Prepare and distribute assistive technology items to be borrowed from the ATRC.
- Demonstrate and guide on proper use and/or operation of adaptive/assistive equipment being loaned.
- Manage administrative requirements including records maintenance; delivery of oral and written communications/instructions; produce information in alternate formats; maintain cooperative working relationships; demonstrate sensitivity to, and respect for, a diverse population.
- Greet consumers, family members, and professionals on site at the ATRC.
- Facilitate guided tours of ATRC to community members
- Establish and maintain process documentation files, records and/or other documents.
- Travel to and participate in ATRC community demonstrations, as requested.
- Identify and attend public outreach/awareness events as appropriate or as availability permits.
- Follow state and federal guidelines set by the State AT Act Program and AT3 (tech act program)
- Promote and effectively communicate the value of Easterseals Services to clients/vendors.
- Conduct presentations/workshops/trainings, either remotely and/or in person to train and educate the community on Assistive Technology.
- Maintain accurate inventory of all hardware, software, adaptive devices, and supplies.
- Manage contract authorizations in accordance with established timelines and defined terms.
- Maintain office hours in the Worcester ATRC Monday – Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm.
- Coverage of essential job functions in Boston ATRC as needed.
- Performs any other duties and/or tasks that may be assigned on an as needed basis.
- Actively participate in team meetings.
- Resolves routine administrative problems.
- Prepares photocopies, and operates a variety of office equipment.
Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, and Excel
- Two years related experience or college degree
- Must have valid driver's license
- Must have access to reliable transportation
- Ability to drive the ATRC Van as needed
- Must pass background checks including driving records check
- Must have working knowledge of assistive technology
- Strong computer experience
- Previous work with persons with disabilities
- Demonstrated knowledge of disability related issues preferred
Work Environment:
- Must be on site at the ATRC Worcester Mondays through Fridays, 8:30AM-4:30 PM
- Must be on site occasionally at the Boston ATRC to provide coverage as needed
- Flexibility in work hours required including nights or weekends for special events
- General office Environment in the ATRC
- Community settings for ATRC trainings, public awareness, and demonstrations
