What are the responsibilities and job description for the Distribution Clerk - HWB position at East Texas Lighthouse for the Blind?
The purpose of the East Texas Lighthouse for the Blind shall be the rehabilitation, education, training and employment of people who are blind and visually impaired, and the furtherance of their interests and welfare through programs designed to provide rehabilitation, training and employment opportunities, being wholly charitable and benevolent.
GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Distribution Clerk position is an indirect labor support position, reporting to the Distribution/Warehouse Supervisor. The Distribution Clerk position is responsible for processing and distributing Horizon work boots (HWB) along with other distribution items per the customers’ requirements accurately and in a timely manner. They may assist other Distribution staff as needed and instructed. On a prescribed schedule, individual will help to maintain a clean and orderly warehouse and observe all safety rules.

Qualifications:
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- One year of warehouse/distribution experience is preferred.
- Other combinations of education and experience may be considered
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare and process Work Quest boot orders accurately and in a timely manner. Including operating heat tunnel for bundled shipments.
- Assist with preparing out going cord orders
- Assist with Receiving inbound product including sorting, counting, labeling and stocking
- Maintain the HWB/distribution items in their assigned area and store in such a manner as to promote appropriate identification, handling, packaging, storage and protection.
- Assist with conducting weekly and annual cycle counts on inventory as needed
- Responsible for meeting the QMS Standard and following QMS Procedure.
- Assist other Distribution staff as needed and instructed
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned
SKILLS
- Must be organized and detail orientated.
- Ability to operate both manual and powered pallet jacks
- Individual must have the ability to read, analyze and interpret general business information, documents and procedures.
- Must have basic math skills.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instruction.
- Basic problem-solving skills.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Individual may need to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time throughout the day in a warehouse setting
- Must be able to reach above shoulder height, below the waist, or lift as required to file documents or store materials throughout the workday.
- Must be able to lift 40 lbs. Proper lifting techniques are required.
