Summary:

The counselor provides trauma-informed counseling and support services to individuals affected by family violence, sexual assault, dating violence, and related crises. This role includes delivering individual, group, and family therapy for both adults and children, conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to promote client healing, safety, and empowerment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Provide trauma-informed counseling and psychotherapy to individuals, families, and groups affected by family violence, sexual assault, dating violence, and related crises.

Conduct comprehensive intake assessments, risk assessments, and safety planning with clients.

Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans tailored to clients’ needs.

Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical documentation in compliance with agency policies and legal/ethical standards.

Provide crisis intervention, emotional support, and stabilization for clients in extreme distress.

Collaborate with case managers, advocates, and other service providers to ensure coordinated client care.

Facilitate therapeutic support groups for survivors of trauma.

Educate clients and families on coping skills, healthy boundaries, and available resources.

Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case consultations, and staff development trainings.

Adhere to ethical guidelines and professional standards set forth by licensing boards and the agency.

Stay current on best practices and emerging trends in trauma therapy, crisis interventions, and related fields.

Support outreach and prevention efforts by providing community education or training as requested.

Assist on-call hospital advocacy, completion of monthly and quarterly reports, public education, and other related tasks as requested.

Must act in accordance with the agency’s mission statement and goals.

Qualifications:

Master’s degree in counseling, Social Work or closely related field is required.

Current Texas state licensure (LPC, LMSW, LCSW, LMFT, or eligible for supervision towards

licensure).

Minimum of 1-2 years of counseling experience, preferably with survivors of trauma, domestic violence, or sexual assault.

Knowledge of trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, and evidence-based therapeutic practices.

Ability to conduct risk assessments and develop treatment plans.

Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards.

Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and ability to work with diverse populations.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage caseloads and documentation requirements.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or an electronic case management system (preferred).

Frequent prolonged sitting, walking, stooping, standing, stair-climbing, and lifting of up to 25 pounds.

Some flexibility in work schedule is required.

Travel may be required to provide services at all outreach centers.

Must be able to drive during the daytime and nighttime hours.

Bilingual (English/Spanish) is strongly preferred; English proficiency required.

Pay: From $52,000.00 per year
