Overview
East River Farms is looking for an enthusiastic, dependable, and customer-focused individual to join our team as a part-time Budtender.
As a Budtender, you’ll be the friendly face of East River Farms—helping qualifying patients explore our wide selection of medical cannabis products and find options that best fit their needs and preferences. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable, motivated, comfortable working in a fast-paced retail environment, and committed to providing an exceptional patient experience.
Responsibilities
- Welcome patients and provide friendly, professional service.
- Educate patients about product types, features, effects, and proper use.
- Make thoughtful product recommendations based on each patient’s needs and preferences.
- Operate the point-of-sale system, debit terminals, and cash drawer accurately.
- Use METRC and follow all South Dakota medical cannabis regulations.
- Maintain accurate records and uphold all store compliance procedures.
- Use approved word tracks, overcome objections, and recommend additional products when appropriate.
- Help the team achieve sales goals while keeping the patient’s needs first.
- Stock and rotate products while maintaining clean, organized, and attractive displays.
- Assist with inventory counts, stock checks, restocking, and general store upkeep.
- Answer phone calls professionally and assist patients with general questions.
- Work collaboratively with the East River Farms team.
Qualifications
- Previous retail or customer-service experience in a fast-paced environment.
- Cannabis retail experience and familiarity with METRC are preferred but not required.
- Supervisory or leadership experience is a plus.
- Strong communication, listening, and customer-service skills.
- Comfortable learning about cannabis products and explaining them clearly.
- Sales-minded, motivated, and able to confidently make product recommendations.
- Experience with POS systems, cash handling, debit terminals, and basic retail math.
- Dependable, organized, detail-oriented, and committed to compliance.
- Professional demeanor in person and over the phone.
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus.
