Status (FLSA): 10 month position, non-exempt, hourly
Reporting Relationships: Ascending Food Service Coordinator
Position Summary: To supervise cashiers, service, food prep and dish room staff and assign daily duties. Responsible for the preparation and cooking of food according to USDA recipes or East Penn recipe cards for the daily menu and service areas.
Qualifications: Possesses a valid Pennsylvania driver's license at all times
Education: High school graduate or GED equivalent

Experience
- Experience in school or institutional food service
- Experience supervising others
- Ability to understand and carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
- Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos
- Is able to independently read, write, speak and comprehend the English language
- Ability to communicate courteously, efficiently and effectively with a variety of individuals, including students, staff, administrators, parents and representatives of outside organizations
- Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with peers, supervisors, parents and outside agencies
- Dependability, punctuality and initiative are essential
- Good personal hygiene
- Follow all HACCP and USDA food policies and regulations
- Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations related to school food service
- Supervise cashiers and food service support staff and assign duties
- Cook any food that is prepackaged or pre cooked for the service areas (burgers, pizza, hot dogs, etc.)
- Coordinate production with service times so that food is held at proper temperatures to maintain quality
- Properly merchandise and keep food stations stocked in an eye-appealing manner
- Keep service and production lines neat and sanitary
- Responsible for the training of new service staff, cashiers, prep area and dish room employees
- Assist Coordinator in ordering of product for the service area and putting deliveries away
- Maintain accurate and complete production records on a daily basis
- Meet with Coordinator on a daily basis to express problems or concerns in your area
- Other duties as assigned
- Ability to stand, bend, stoop, sit, lift, reach, communicate (vision, hearing, and speech), carry or convey sufficient weight to safely and effectively carry out functions, duties, and responsibilities
- Ability to independently ambulate in and around school buildings and office areas
- Ability to independently arrive at the designated work site and adhere to the established work schedule
- Can stand/walk for lengthy periods of time
