Key Roles


This position assists with the duties associated in the operation and maintenance of the Continuous Emissions Monitoring equipment and the Landfill Emissions Monitoring equipment. The role assists power plant staff in identifying potential emissions issues and promptly communicates the need for corrective action to appropriate staff. Additionally, the position supports air quality compliance and environmental reporting for power plants and landfill operations by documenting quality assurance activities, assisting with Compliance Stack Testing, and participating in Relative Accuracy Test Audits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Performs daily calibration error checks on Continuous Emission Monitoring systems for all power plants, 365 days per year.
  • Performs maintenance on Landfill Emission Monitoring systems for all landfill plants.
  • Performs recordkeeping for state and EPA air quality reporting to ensure compliance with current regulations.
  • Provides assistance in installing and maintaining all environmental monitoring equipment.
  • Performs environmental instrument repairs on electrical, electronic, pneumatic, and chemical systems.
  • Researches, maintains, and modifies equipment, electronic circuits, communication systems, computer systems, and networks to support operation of existing hardware.
  • Maintains a current configuration of all Continuous Emission Monitoring equipment and landfill equipment to comply with current regulations.
  • Upgrades environmental software and makes software changes required for proper reporting.
  • Coordinates with vendors and contractors to schedule on-site repairs for HVAC equipment and pipeline gas sampling and analysis.
  • Provides environmental reports to EKPC staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Key Requirements


Education

  • Associate's degree in a related area. An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.


Experience:

  • Four (4) years of related experience.


Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be able to read and interpret schematics of electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems.
  • Knowledge of continuous emissions monitoring software preferred.
  • Knowledge of electronic test equipment (e.g., oscilloscope, frequency counter, and volt-ohm meter).
  • Knowledge of air quality testing methods preferred.
  • Knowledge of air quality regulatory requirements preferred.
  • Knowledge of electronic and electrical troubleshooting techniques.
  • Proficient oral, written, and listening communication skills with the ability to present technical information to a wide range of audiences.
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with personnel throughout the organization, including external contacts.
  • Ability to plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate assigned work activities.
  • Thorough data analysis and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Ability to communicate thoroughly and in a timely manner with leadership and peers.

Working Conditions

  • Work is often performed outside with environmental demands including dust, fumes, noise, heights, and slippery or unstable surfaces. Regular lifting of objects weighing twenty (20) pounds and occasional lifting up to fifty (50) pounds.
  • Occasional overtime and overnight travel, including twenty-four (24) hour call out.
  • Must be medically certified to wear respiratory protection.
  • Must be able to appropriately don a respirator which would include no facial hair at the sealing surface.
  • Must maintain a valid driver¿s license.
  • Must wear personal protective equipment as appropriate.

This position with be mainly located at Cooper Station (Somerset, KY) but will also be covering other locations as needed.
