Building: EJ Community Pool
Overview: East Jordan Public Schools is seeking a dependable, safety minded individual to join the East Jordan Community Pool team as a Lifeguard. This position plays an important role in providing a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable environment for students, families, and community members by monitoring pool activities, enforcing safety rules, and responding to emergencies when needed.
Position Details: Year-round, Monday – Friday, with occasional weekend hours based on programming and staffing needs
Preferred Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years of age
Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification (or equivalent nationally recognized certification), or willingness to obtain certification prior to independently working as a lifeguard.
Current American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain prior to working independently as a lifeguard.
Strong swimming ability and ability to successfully complete required water skills and rescue testing.
Excellent observation, communication, and decision making skills.
Ability to remain calm and respond effectively in emergency situations.
Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain constant surveillance of swimmers and pool activities.
Recognize hazardous situations and prevent accidents before they occur.
Enforce pool rules and safety regulations in a courteous and consistent manner.
Respond immediately to emergencies by performing water rescues, CPR, AED, and First Aid as necessary.
Complete incident and accident reports accurately and promptly.
Inspect and maintain rescue equipment and report safety concerns.
Assist with opening, closing, and general cleanliness of the pool deck and guard stations.
Provide excellent customer service to patrons and visitors.
Attend required staff meetings and in service training.
