East Houston Medical Center – Baytown, Texas
East Houston Medical Center’s Baytown facility is seeking Facilities Maintenance Technicians to help maintain a safe, functional, and compliant environment of care. This role supports the building systems, patient care spaces, offices, common areas, and operational infrastructure that allow the facility to run effectively.
About the Role
The Facilities Maintenance Technician completes repairs, inspections, preventive maintenance, work orders, safety checks, and general facility support. The ideal candidate is hands-on, responsive, safety-conscious, and comfortable working around clinical operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance, repairs, inspections, and assigned work orders throughout the facility.
- Support basic electrical, plumbing, HVAC, lighting, doors, walls, flooring, fixtures, furniture, and equipment needs.
- Respond to urgent maintenance calls, leaks, environmental concerns, room issues, and safety hazards.
- Assist with preventive maintenance schedules, equipment checks, filter changes, and documentation.
- Support life safety, emergency preparedness, fire safety, utility systems, and regulatory readiness activities.
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, department leaders, and facility leadership as directed.
- Maintain tools, supplies, maintenance areas, and documentation in an organized and safe manner.
- Work respectfully in patient care areas while minimizing disruption to patients, families, and staff.
Scheduling and Availability
Full-time and part-time schedules may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, on-call coverage, and emergency response based on facility needs.
Requirements
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Prior maintenance, facilities, plant operations, construction, or trades experience preferred.
- Healthcare facility experience preferred.
- Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and general repairs preferred.
- Ability to lift, climb, stand, walk, bend, and respond to physical facility needs throughout the shift.
