The Position
THE PROGRAM
The East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) is recruiting to fill a maximum of six (6) positions for its Limited Term (LT) Special Employment Program (SEP) (Community Trainee Program (CTP).
This one-year employment program provides training and work experience for trainees referred from community-based job-training programs to help them increase their employment skills and experience.
THE POSITIONS
Four (4) SEP / CTP positions are in the Operations and Maintenance Department and two (2) SEP / CTP positions are in the Wastewater Department at EBMUD.
SEP / CTP trainees in these departments may assist in a variety of work areas including but not limited to grounds maintenance, carpentry, and painting.

Requirements
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to apply :
1.Referral from a formal, community-based job-training program. Prior experience in a pre-apprenticeship program is preferred but not required.
2.Minimum education requirement : Completion of 8th grade education. A high school diploma or its equivalent is highly desirable.
3.Must possess a valid California driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record.
4.Must possess physical characteristics to perform a variety of maintenance work including sufficient strength to lift and carry bags of fertilizer or equipment up to 50 pounds.
5.Must be willing to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions and in environments where noxious plants and insects are present, and must be willing to work overtime, as needed.
The Selection Process
1. Visit www.ebmud.com to submit a completed online application, including responses to all supplemental questions.
2. The deadline to apply is Friday, March 1, 2024, by 4 : 30 p.m. Only application materials submitted online during the filing period will be accepted.
Application materials faxed, mailed or delivered to EBMUD will not be accepted.
3. The selection process for SEP / CTP trainees includes :
- an online multiple-choice test tentatively scheduled for the week of March 25, 2024
- physical abilities test tentatively scheduled for the week of April 8, 2024
- panel interview tentatively scheduled for the week of April 22, 2024
4. Selected CTP trainees are expected to begin work in May 2024.
All employment offers are conditional, pending the results of a Live Scan background screening. All selected finalists must participate in the Live Scan background screening process to remain in consideration for EBMUD employment.
