This professional-level contract position, available immediately, is an exciting opportunity to join our team at urban university (uu).
Established in 1998, uu, is an award-winning 501c3 non-profit organization with the mission to improve the social and economic status of impoverished individuals through employability training, transitional employment, housing and supportive services. With a history deeply rooted in equity for over 26 years, uu has served more than 2,000 individuals through the delivery of workforce development and support programs that address the service gaps faced by marginalized individuals striving to reach social and economic mobility to include single mothers transitioning from public assistance, non-violent returnees, opportunity youth and Veterans.
Position Profile:
The Employee Success Program Coordinator is a proven leader who will coordinate the Single Moms at Work Employment Pathway, uu’s on-the-job training component delivered through urban furniture and boutique, our nonprofit social enterprise. Additionally, the Employment Social Enterprise Coordinator will assist the Executive Director with launching the Connect Program, a new after-care program for program graduates.
This is a five month grant-funded position that can grow into a permanent leadership position for the person with the right fit, growth mindset, performance, skills and experience.
Position Summary:
The Employee Success Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and implementing the Single Moms at Work Program - urban university’s transitional employment workforce development program designed to enhance the employability and career advancement of low-income single mothers. This role involves working with participants, employers, community partners, and other stakeholders to achieve program goals and objectives.
Compensation: $30,000 total contract for 5 months
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Program Coordination:
- Coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Single Moms at Work Program, ensuring efficient and effective service delivery and timely outcome deliverables;.
- Implement and monitor job readiness plans, activities, and timelines.
- Schedule and coordinate workshops, training sessions, and other program events.
- Maintain accurate program records, participant data, and performance metrics.
- Prepare and submit regular program reports to supervisors, funders, and stakeholders.
- Support the scale of the Connect Program;
- Assist the Workshop Coordinator as needed
- Participant Support:
- Recruit, screen, and enroll eligible participants into programs.
- Conduct participant assessments to identify needs, skills, and career goals.
- Provide weekly one-on-one career counseling, job readiness training, and job placement assistance to participants.
- Develop individualized job readiness plans for participants, and monitor their progress.
- Connect participants with support services, such as childcare, transportation, and housing assistance.
- Employer Engagement:
- Develop and maintain relationships with local employers and staffing agencies to identify job opportunities and training needs.
- Organize job fairs, employer presentations, and networking events.
- Promote the benefits of hiring program participants to employers.
- Community Collaboration:
- Build and maintain partnerships with community organizations, educational institutions, and government agencies.
- Collaborate with partners to leverage resources and expand program reach.
- Represent the organization at community meetings, workshops, and events.
- Identify and pursue funding opportunities, including grant writing and reporting.
- Curriculum Development:
- Develop and update program curriculum and training materials.
- Ensure curriculum is aligned with industry standards and employer needs.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and make necessary adjustments.
- Research and incorporate best practices in workforce development.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in education, social work, human resources, or a related field preferred.
- 5 years of experience in workforce development, program coordination, career counseling, or a related field.
- Strong organizational, time management, project management and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working with diverse populations, including individuals with barriers to employment.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and database management.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with grant writing and reporting.
- Knowledge of local labor market trends and employer needs.

Working Conditions:
- Office environment with occasional travel to community sites and employer locations.
- Cloe knit team including single mother leaders with lived experience
- May require some evening or weekend hours.
