What You'll Do
As a School Age Education Assistant, you'll be at the heart of our program, working hands-on with students to:
- Create engaging experiences by supporting our School Age Childcare Educators in implementing high-quality activities that align with the Bright Stars Quality Framework and RI After School Program Quality Standards
- Champion student growth through positive approaches that promote social-emotional learning and help students develop the skills they need for school success
- Be a supportive presence for students who need additional resources and interventions, working closely with educators, teachers, and specialists
- Build community by welcoming students, communicating with families, and creating a warm, inclusive environment
- Grow professionally through ongoing training and development opportunities
Where You'll Work
You'll be based at one of our partner school locations:
- Pell School
- Aquidneck School
- Forest Avenue School
- Gaudet Middle School
What We're Looking For
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Formal training in childcare/youth development OR at least one year of supervised experience working with school-age children (K-8) in a group setting
- Excellent communication skills and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to build positive relationships with diverse students, families, and staff
- Flexibility and enthusiasm for an active, hands-on role
Preferred:
- Associate's Degree and/or Teacher Assistant Certification
