Billing Specialist (Part Time)

Duties and Responsibilities

• Have a foundational understanding of all insurance company types. Medicare, Medi-Cal, commercial, workers comp.
• Knowledge on how to appropriately use modifiers
• Responsible for working on assigned tasks
• Responsible for entering demographics and insurance information, checking for accuracy and completeness
• Responsible for verifying eligibility and benefits for services.
• Identifies patients' insurance coverage or other financial resources to pay for medical care and services.
• Responsible for working on A/R, reviewing accounts for unpaid patient balances and calling patients to obtain payment.
• Identify and enter secondary and tertiary insurance companies.
• Responsible for preparing and reviewing charges to submit for billing.
• Responsible for submitting Medical Records when requested.
• Responsible for timely submission of charges.
• Reviewing appointment schedules for add on patients
• Requesting Authorizations for office visits, diagnostics and procedures when needed.
• Escalates any advanced or complex accounts to a more experienced team member.
• Maintains professional communication with other staff, medical center staff, physicians, guests, and patients.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by team manager.
• Provides excellent customer service to all individuals with whom the employee has contact.
• Knowledge of Medical Terminology
• Maintain HIPAA compliance

• Attends all mandatory meetings and in-services.
• Exhibits a clean and neat appearance. Follow dress code standards.
• Follows all safety precautions, including use of necessary devices and/or equipment.
• Works as scheduled and demonstrates punctuality and dependability.
