What are the responsibilities and job description for the Food Pantry Coordinator position at EAST BATON ROUGE COUNCIL ON AGING?
Position Characteristics:
Under the direction of the Food Pantry Manager, the Pantry Coordinator manages and the operations of the food pantry, including but not limited to administering assessments, administration and coordination of food pantry clerks and volunteers, updating inventory, acquiring and restocking of food pantry items, and quality control, coordination of food pickup program, monthly statistics and reports as required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
To reflect in all aspects of job performance the mission of the East Baton Rouge Council
on the Aging, Inc. ?serving the elderly in East Baton Rouge Parish, to enrich and enhance
their quality of life through advocacy efforts, creative planning, and coordination and
provision of needed services, and to make it possible for them to live independent lives as
long as possible.?
- Maintains food pantry inventory and communicates any needs to for restocking.
- Trains, schedules and provides daily coordination of food pantry clerks & volunteers.
- Assures that units of service are recorded in client database.
- Assesses current and new senior client recipients of new food pantry items.
- Confirms that all recipients are verified and in need through EBRCOA process and conduct updates to registration and assessments annually.
- Assures the safety of food storage procedures have meet the requirement of food and safety standards.
- Modifies food pantry menu as needed.
- Unloads food pantry items from the loading dock and
- Packs food pantry orders and stocks shelves as needed
- Responsible for implementing food pantry policies and procedures
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School diploma required
- Candidate should have experience supervising workers, volunteers or working within a non-profit organization.
- Skills in verbal and written communication and the ability to plan and organize multiple work tasks as well as good interpersonal communication skills are essential
- Must pass a criminal background check
